THE MOST WIDELY READ MYSTERY OF ALL TIME—NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE DIRECTED BY KENNETH BRANAGH AND PRODUCED BY RIDLEY SCOTT!

“The murderer is with us—on the train now . . .”

Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Edward Ratchett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Without a shred of doubt, one of his fellow passengers is the murderer.

Isolated by the storm, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer among a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again.

IDK what to say.. There are too many suspects which at first were kinda confusing. Too many names to be remembered, too many evidences. As each suspect presented their alibis, my hypothesis also shifted. I guessed way too many suspects during the read LOL.

The way Poirot ended the case was rather amusing. He provided two solutions, in which one of them was actually meant to 'tease' the murderer, or I may say murderers. But then the very ending surprised me. In a good way.

To sum up, another masterpiece by Christie. A kinda long read, not really intense, but still enjoyable.

First time reading a book of this genre, ahhhhh I must say I’ll be looking for more. So engagingly written.

Quotes

  • Grace Ningkan Galunghas quoted6 years ago
Hardman’s evidence was necessary in case some outsider should be suspected of the crime and be unable to prove an alibi.
  • Sumi Ghas quoted5 months ago
Instead of the usual formula, ‘Of so many people one is guilty,’ I was faced with the problem that of thirteen persons one and one only was innocent. Which was that person?
  • Sumi Ghas quoted5 months ago
“I saw it as a perfect mosaic, each person playing his or her allotted part. It was so arranged that if suspicion should fall on any one person, the evidence of one or more of the others would clear the accused person and confuse the issue.
