However, successful entrepreneurs have also been realistic as to the downsides of targeting a niche. Having a single niche is equivalent to putting all of your eggs in one basket. Industry demand can crash (sometimes overnight) and if your venture depends upon that industry, it can face deep trouble without warning.

It’s important having a niche because you carve out your identity in the industry. You have to create an identity for yourself to be successful.
