J-Wunder

I grew up in a family of seven. My father was a charming, unemployed, alcoholic and my mother basically supported the family until she retired in 2006.At 10 years old, I was the only kid wearing Corona Light and Marlboro Red t-shirts when I realized my family was broke. Yeah, I was THAT kid.It became clear by age 12 that life presented me with a few options: Gang bang, become a drug addict, deal drugs, go to prison, end up dead on the streets or all of the above. Instead, I chose to go to school and become a successful part of the working class.College was the greatest decision I ever made. It was the first time I drank booze. First time I smoked weed. First time I ate thirty-four tacos at Taco Bell. First time I woke up on campus in handcuffs, arrested for reasons unknown. First time I had sex with a woman who was 6’4”. First time I went to Vegas…. Basically, it was the first of many. After graduating from Cal Poly in 2002 with a Graphic Communication degree in Printing Management, I realized I was about to face the real world. I had to act responsible. I had to become an adult. This was no laughing matter. In October 2010, I began Facebooking the play-by-play of my life for all my friends to see. From watching bums fighting each other, to a night out with strippers, I started to get a large following. Friends started approaching me, asking me to start a blog because my updates were not only comical, but honest. Intrigued by this idea, I started “Ghetto Genius” on November 8, 2010 and used my site as a place where friends could get laughs from the stories I posted. If that wasn’t enough, I went out on a limb and started to post advice columns, which became more popular than I ever could have imagined.Living back in the Bay Area, I'm a producer for an advertising agency by day and blogger/writer by night. Can't complain. Life is good. Enjoy my book and all the hilarity that ensues throughout. Many thanks and much love!
