Zan Kovac introduction to space travel starts at aged 12 when he’s abducted by his estranged father. But some years later Zan embarks on a future wild adventure resulting for his father’s activities. The pair steal the spaceship Republics and go on a 200 year journey of discovery with the crew held in time-storage. Zan’s father dies along the way. But when a planet with some Earth like qualities is discovered and the original crew are woken by the ship’s computer.
Zan on returning home, find much of Earth ruled by the Aclasers, an elite group who’ve used genetic engineering to take charge of their own evolution. The Aclaser consider themselves to be a different species from common Humans. Furthermore they’re not the least bit interested in the Republics expedition. But the spaceship’s journey is important and as word gets out starts to change the course of history. But all this leads to yet more turbulence in Zan’s life.
