In a conversation about who would buy out Pairin’s contract, Maomao wanted to be sure to take her sister’s feelings into special consideration. Pairin was a woman who loved often and much, and it would be ideal, in Maomao’s opinion, if she could go to a man she truly cared for. If Maomao had thought Lihaku was too far removed from being Pairin’s type, she certainly wouldn’t have offered him any further advice.

Normally this wouldn’t have been a problem, but ever since Consort Gyokuyou had begun to put the things she learned at the consorts’ seminar into practice, “normal” no longer seemed to apply.
