Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusi

Al-Akhlaq Wa’l-Siyar (Morals and Behaviour)

Ibn Hazm (994–1064) is one of the representatives of Islamic philosophy that developed in Muslim Spain during the eleventh century. Born in Cordoba, within a family of high social rank, he suffered numerous avatars throughout his life due to changes in the political plan and his political and intellectual initiatives. Among his lesser-known works is the Book of Morals and Behaviour, a short treatise on practical morality in which he shows a series of reflections and judgments on the behaviors and ways of behaving in the society of men of his time. Among the topics discussed are friendship, love, vanity or life in society.
