The Israeli version of Carl Hamilton. Well written, and with a good plot. Kind of looses track in the middle due to a new plot.

The Roman Catholic Church, said a noteworthy dissident, was but one scandal away from oblivion.
“I know that Monsignor Donati has asked you to investigate Claudia’s death.”
The chambermaids described him as polite to a fault, which was unusual for a Russian.
