Oh no. I was actually glaring at the king!
My hands dropped to my sides as our gazes locked. The tension between us was so thick it felt like the air itself had turned solid. Or was it just me? His piercing grey eyes seemed to see straight through me, delving into my very soul. I couldn't look away, completely transfixed by his powerful presence. Did he sense something in me that others didn’t? Or did he find me lacking—just a common peasant girl hopelessly out of her depth here? I couldn’t tell from the hard, unyielding look in his eyes.
After what felt like an eternity, he turned abruptly away. I released the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.
“I have made my choices,” he announced to the room.
Silence fell, heavy and expectant. Everyone's eyes were fixed on him, even his generals'.
“The first girl I have selected is…” He paused for dramatic effect.
“Freya Hadid.”
Chosen as one of the Alpha King's breeders. Freya is treated unfairly by both the Alpha and her fellow breeders.
She's accused of committing different crimes and does not go unpunished.
She spends a night with the Alpha and he does not seem to want to let her go after that night. This leaves her vulnerable to a lot of enemies who would stop at nothing to make her utterly miserable.
How would Freya scale through and prove herself worthy of being a Luna?
What happens when a deep dark secret is discovered?
