Everyone in the village calls Greta a saint. She visits the sick, remembers birthdays, and never talks about the infant daughter she lost sixteen years ago. Only Greta knows that the daughter was never lost. Rosa has grown up two floors above a locked door, with books for company and a mother who loves her too much to let her out. But a new family has moved in next door, and Rosa has found a way to slip notes through the fence. Notes her mother will find. A story of a love so complete it becomes a cage, told from the side of the woman holding the key.
