Sabrina Alexis Bendory is an American writer and relationship coach known for her work on dating psychology and emotional well-being. She is the co-founder of the website A New Mode and is known for the books You’re Overthinking It (2023) and Detached (2025). Her work appears across major digital platforms where she offers weekly guidance on modern relationships.
Bendory began her writing career by launching A New Mode, a site focused on relationship dynamics. She wrote articles that examined dating behaviour and emotional patterns through simple and practical ideas. Her pieces attracted a large audience, and her approach made her a recognised voice for women seeking greater clarity in their relationships. She later said that many problems could be traced to “a few small pieces of advice,” a view shaped by years of coaching friends and readers.
Her presence grew across social media, and she became a noted source of dating guidance on TikTok and Instagram. She also wrote weekly columns for Thought Catalog and expanded her work into coaching. Her advice centred on emotional awareness, relationship choices, and self-worth.
Her first book, You’re Overthinking It (2023), explored the link between self-esteem and patterns that shape dating outcomes. The book asked why people repeat the same choices, struggle with clarity or feel powerless when dating. Bendory examined ideas such as emotional availability, red flags, stress, clarity of intention, and the effect of fear on decision-making.
Bendory described common situations in which people chase relationships instead of choosing them and explained how self-doubt creates confusion. The book outlined ways to build a secure sense of self, making lasting love possible.
Her second book, Detached (2025), further developed these ideas. It examined self-sabotage, overthinking and the habit of settling for less. Bendory wrote about anxious attachment, emotional avoidance and the urge to seek validation. She used personal stories, psychology, and practical exercises to show readers how to stop measuring their worth by others.
The book focused on emotional regulation, self-trust and the value of letting go rather than holding on. She wrote that freedom begins when people stop giving their power away and reconnect with the most grounded version of themselves.
Sabrina Alexis Bendory lives in New York City.
