James Joyce

Born in Ireland in 1882, author and poet James Augustine Aloysius Joyce was one of the most prominent fiction writers of the 19th century. With works including, Dubliners (1914), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916) and Ulysses (1922), Joyce's use of different literary styles and techniques propelled him into the spotlight. Though he travelled frequently during his life, he often wrote of his hometown of Dublin, which was recognised by his alma mater University College Dublin, who named the presitigious James Joyce Award after him.
