Anne Plichota

Anne Plichota is a French YA and children's author. She collaborated with her fellow librarian from Strasbourg, Cendrine Wolf, to create the Oksa Pollock fantasy series, that ran from 2007 to 2019. The series was translated into multiple languages.

Anne Plichota was born in Dijon. After studying Chinese language and culture, she spent several years living and working in Korea and China. Plichota has had several jobs: Chinese teacher, nurse’s aide, public letter writer, and librarian.

Her journey into the world of publishing was not a conventional one. Initially rejected by major publishing houses, Plichota and Wolf self-published their first book and distributed it locally in Strasbourg.

However, their perseverance paid off as the series garnered a dedicated following on teen blogs and soon became a local sensation in Alsace, spreading its popularity throughout France.

Additionally, they co-authored a darker and more gothic trilogy called Susan Hopper. The first novel, Le parfum perdu, came out in 2013. The second, Les Forces fantômes, in 2016. At the moment, both books are only available in French.

Anne Plichota and Cendrine Wolf also use the pen name Octavia Polk to write contemporary fiction. Their psychological thriller, La démesure du désir (2022), exames the complexity of human relations and love.

Anne Plichota lives in Strasbourg.
