Kit A. Rasmussen

Kit A. Rasmussen is a Danish author best known for crime, mystery, and children's books. In 2017, she published Until Death Do Us Part, Denmark's first young adult noir-crime novel.

Kit A. Rasmussen at Rigshospitalet and grew up in inner Nørrebro, Copenhagen. Despite never living outside Copenhagen, Rasmussen has resided in various parts of the city. When Kit was a child, she wrote stories about a family gathering at the castle of Count Dracula. Though she disliked Danish essays not being stories, she enjoyed her gymnasium years, struggling until she managed to write one about her inability.

Her educational journey was diverse. Encouraged by her parents to pursue higher education, she explored different fields at university, studying civil engineering (in technical physics), mathematics, and psychology. However, it wasn't until she started at the Centre for Children's Literature’s writing program that she felt at home. Kit has held various jobs, including working as a substrate mixer in a laboratory and a circus (though not performing).

Kit debuted in 2009 with Max and the Mysterious Museum and has since been inspired by the adventures of Indiana Jones. Many of her books echo this adventurous spirit.

Her bibliography includes titles such as Dangerous Diseases and Murder, both part of the Readable series designed for schoolchildren, offering a blend of factual information and engaging storytelling. The Mika series is another testament to her versatility, introducing magic and adventure to younger readers.

Her Solo Cow and My Biggest Secret series explore themes of loneliness, secrets, and adolescent challenges.

Hostage, A Mathemagic World — Now in the Circus, and The Fence are examples of her work that combine suspense with educational elements. Kit's narrative style is accessible and engaging, often involving direct speech to create a vivid connection between her characters and readers.

Kit A. Rasmussen still lives in Copenhagen.
