Annika Devert

Annika Devert is a Swedish writer whose work covers children’s literature and feel-good fiction. She has published three children’s books and five audiobooks in collaboration with her sister Jessika Devert, now available in seven languages. Home for Christmas (2025) introduces her work for an adult readership and presents the first instalment in a series set on the island of Sardinön.

Annika studied at Lundby Gymnasium and later at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, which shaped her professional path in human resources. Devert has worked in HR for many years, including managerial roles within learning and development. Her long-standing interest in people, relationships, and personal growth influences the themes and character development in her writing.

Devert began publishing together with her sister. Their joint work often uses the Gothenburg surroundings, with many stories set near the city. The sisters developed a collaborative process built on direct revision of each other’s drafts, describing this as a commitment to making the books “as good as they possibly can be” through honest feedback.

Home for Christmas (2025) is their first adult novel. The story follows Emelie, a mother of three who struggles to manage finances after her partner leaves and unexpectedly inherits a house on Sardinön. The property is filled with Christmas decorations, and the move forces her to reconsider work, family life and new relationships.

Her children want to stay on the island, while she faces questions about the future and about Andreas, a neighbour who has inherited a guest house on the same plot.

Following Home for Christmas, the sisters continued to write stories linked to the same setting. Their fiction expands the world of Sardinön through recurring characters who return in later books.

Annika Devert still lives in Gothenburg.
