After years of silence, there is a message you have already written in your head. You have rehearsed it in the car, at 3 a.m., in the queue at the supermarket. But the gap between the version you imagine and the one you can actually send is wide, and the stakes feel enormous. This book is for anyone — parent or adult child — trying to decide whether to reach out, and what to say if they do.

It does not tell you that reconciliation is the only goal, or that staying silent is a failure. It helps you think honestly about whether contact is safe, what you actually want from a message, and what you can bear if the answer is nothing. It walks you through drafting the message in plain language, handling an apology without losing yourself, and surviving the days after you press send — reply or no reply. No scripts designed to 'win' someone back, no assumption that you owe anyone forgiveness. Just a clearer way to decide, and a steadier way to live with the outcome. Part of The Estrangement Library.
