Jamie Brisick is an American writer, photographer, and filmmaker from Southern California.After surfing on the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals) world tour from 1986 to 1991, Brisick began writing and photographing for surf magazines. From 1998 to 2000 he was Executive Editor of Surfing magazine. He is currently Global Editor of Huck magazine. He is the director of the documentary films You Remind Me of Me and Concrete Pow Wow. He is currently finishing a documentary with Alan White about Australian surfer Peter Drouyn called Becoming Westerly, which is being produced by Beau Willimon (House of Cards, Ides of March).Brisick has written three books: We Approach Our Martinis With Such High Expectations (Consafos Press, 2002), Have Board, Will Travel: The Definitive History of Surf, Skate, and Snow (HarperCollins, 2004), and Becoming Westerly. His stories have appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian,Details, and The Surfer’s Journal. In 2008 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship.
