They rode into town without a word.

Four men on horseback. Dust-covered, hard-eyed, and silent as the grave. Nobody knew where they had come from, and nobody knew who had sent them. But wherever they went, trouble followed close behind.

When a quiet ranching settlement is struck by a string of killings, whispers spread about a posse that rides only at dusk and leaves no witnesses behind. Some say they are lawmen. Others say they are killers wearing justice like a borrowed coat.

Flint Calder is drawn into the mystery when an old friend disappears and a frightened ranch wife begs him to find the truth. But the deeper he digs, the more he learns that the silent riders are guarding a secret powerful men would kill to keep buried.

Now Calder must face a posse that does not warn, does not bargain, and does not miss.

Because in this country, silence can be deadlier than gunfire.
