Wanda Herring Is An Author And Owner Of Sharp & Shuler Press, LLC Wanda Herring is a native of Fayetteville, N.C., although she spent her childhood moving from one military post to another until her father retired from the army when she was in junior high school. After graduating with a B.A. degree in English from Methodist University in Fayetteville in 1966, Wanda taught in Cumberland County, N.C. schools and out of state. Her experience included elementary education, secondary education, special education and adult literacy. For the past twenty years, she has resided in Florida where she developed an interest in native plants, started a community gardening club, and wrote a semi-annual gardening newsletter. Wanda met her husband, David, at Methodist University. They have been married for 43 years and currently reside in Port St Lucie, Florida. In addition to teaching, Wanda has experience in business, running her own import company and serving as an officer of a manufacturing company. In 1991, she returned to the field of education as a founder and Director of the Adult Literacy Ministry of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Serving for over ten years, she was involved in teacher training and student evaluation and placement. Curriculum development was also her responsibility, and she co-authored Hospitality English , a teacher’s manual for English as a second language in the hospitality industry. She was one of the first members of the Literacy Coalition of Broward County, and served as their liaison to the faith-based community. In 2010, Wanda launched her own publishing company, Sharp & Shuler Press, where she publishes her own works and plans to add the works of selected authors. Sharp & Shuler Press was established to take advantage of the digital publishing revolution so that its authors have more time to devote to their art. The authors also have the opportunity of connecting with discerning readers who are tired of “celebrity” and fad books. As a niche press, Sharp & Shuler Press offers a limited but varied selection of quality writings to uplift the spirit and honor God. To date, Wanda has published Down the Chicken Foot Road, Truffle – One Special Bunny and Beneath the Orange and Mango Trees – Reverie in a Tropical Garden.
