Christine Conradt

Christine Conradt is an American writer, screenwriter, producer and director. She writes young adult thrillers and crime fiction. She is best known for the At 17 novels: Missing at 17, Pregnant at 17 and Murdered at 17, all published in 2018. The books are based on the Lifetime television films she helped develop.

Christine Conradt was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. At eighteen, she moved to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from the School of Cinematic Arts. After graduation, she worked briefly in film development before moving into screenwriting. She later received a Master of Criminal Justice from Boston University, focusing on cybercrime and juvenile delinquency.

Her screenwriting career has centred mainly on thrillers and crime dramas for television. She has written more than sixty films for networks including Lifetime, LMN, USA, Fox and Showtime. She has also worked as a producer and director. Her work often deals with crime, family conflict, deception and the impact of violence on young people.

In 2018, Conradt moved into fiction with the At 17 novel series. The books adapt stories from the Lifetime films while adding new characters, motives and background detail. Missing at 17 follows a teenage girl who discovers that her parents have hidden the truth about her identity. Her search for answers draws her into a dangerous relationship with a stranger who has secrets of his own.

Pregnant at 17 centres on Chelsea, whose life changes after an unexpected pregnancy and the release of the man she helped send to prison. The novel combines romantic suspense with questions of trust, survival and personal responsibility.

Murdered at 17 follows Brooke, a teenager living with a medical condition that causes violent outbursts after a head injury. When her best friend is murdered, Brooke begins to suspect that she may have committed the crime herself. The novel uses unreliable memory, guilt and psychological suspense as its main narrative elements.

Christine Conradt continues to write screenplays and fiction from Los Angeles. She lives with her husband and two rescued cats. Outside writing and filmmaking, she enjoys travelling and has visited countries across North and South America, Europe and Asia.
