Sara Levine writes novels, short stories, essays, prose poems, and aphorisms. Her novel Treasure Island!!! was well-reviewed in both the US and the UK and has been translated into Italian and Spanish. Her short stories Short Dark Oracles remain stubbornly in English. She has a PhD in English and American Literature from Brown University. She taught in the MFA in Nonfiction Writing program at the University of Iowa. Some of her nonfiction work can be found in the following anthologies: The Touchstone Anthology of Contemporary Creative Nonfiction: 1970-Present; Understanding the Essay; Essayists on the Essay: Montaigne to Our Time; A Best of Fence: The First Nine Years. She co-edited and wrote the introduction to the most recent edition of The Broadview Anthology of Short Fiction. Her awards include a Mellon Fellowship in the Humanities and a Bridport Prize for Fiction. Sara Levine is Chair of the Writing Program at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
