Walter Jerrold

(1879-1929) He wrote and edited, also as Walter Copeland for children. From a theatrical family, he rose to deputy editor of The Observer newspaper, spending most of his life in London. "Tradition in the nursery has acted as a severe editor." Of five daughters (m. Clara Armstrong Bridgman 1895), Ianthe Jerrold (1898–1977) wrote fiction.
