Lars Sander Matjeka is a Danish author and leadership advisor known for business memoir and leadership reflection. He is best known for Energi & taknemmelighed (2022), FODFÆSTE (2025) and Beyond the Boardroom (2025). He has worked in Nordic media and held senior roles across commercial sectors.
Lars Sander Matjeka studied at Copenhagen Business School, where he completed the HD(U) programme in 2000. He later joined the IAA MasterClass in 2006, expanding his focus on marketing and communication. He пфштув his first leadership role at the age of 21 and began his career in commercial work early.
Matjeka worked in the IT sector as marketing and communication director. He later served as director of an education firm. His move into media led him to Aller Media, where he became CEO in March 2017. He increased subscribers and helped change early deficits. His work ended in January 2020 after a disagreement on future strategy. “Fear is only something we create in our heads,” he said when asked about the dismissal. He stated that “CEO was just a small part of a large whole” and described his identity as broader than his role.
He used the early days of the pandemic to reflect on family and work. Matjeka said that he wished leaders could take long breaks without consequence. He noted that change shapes people and added, “There is always something good, enriching and valuable to be found in every situation if we look for it.”
He remained active in his network and continued advisory work. He later said that “it always pays to stand up for yourself.” He turned down several jobs that did not align with his values.
He became Chief Sales and Marketing Officer in a logistics firm and wrote columns for FINANS. He served on several boards and spoke through One Decision. His book FODFÆSTE (2025) explored the experience of job loss and recovery. He wrote that crises can help shape personal growth.
Beyond the Boardroom (2025) continued this theme. It presented his account of life after leaving the C-suite and his view on leadership identity. He chose to publish it in English to reach readers facing similar transitions. A memoir and a guide, the book explores what success means beyond titles and status.
