Amanda Sington-Williams

I got hooked on writing when I did a two year course in Creative Writing at Sussex University where I gained an MA. The Eloquence of Desire was my first novel. It was published in 2010 and has been translated into Turkish. This was a Romance and won an award from the Royal Literary Fund. My latest novel Just Two Weeks is a psychological thriller set in Sri Lanka and The Lake District in northern UK. This won the IPR Agents Pick. I am a disabled writer and can only type with two fingers! I love singing and I sing in a Community Choir in Brighton called Dawn Chorus. I mentor new novel writers.I grew up in Cambridge and Liverpool and left school at 16. I have lived in Japan, Spain and Australia and have had a variety of jobs including teacher of English, bar work, film extra and model. I worked with homeless people for many years, was a co-ordinator for domestic violence policy for a local authority and managed a community centre in north London. My poetry has been read out on BBC radio. Many of my short stories have been selected for readings or published in magazines and anthologies.
