Anne Shirley leaves the familiar fields and quiet lanes of Prince Edward Island behind as she steps into a new chapter of her life at Redmond College in Nova Scotia.

College brings fresh friendships, intellectual awakening, and a wider world than Anne has ever known—but it also brings difficult choices. As she balances academic ambition with the pull of home, Anne faces romantic proposals, shifting loyalties, and the growing realization that love, like life, is more complex than the ideals she once imagined.

Set against the gentle rhythms of early twentieth-century Canada, Anne of the Island is a story of maturity and self-discovery—of learning when to hold fast to dreams, and when to let them evolve. With warmth, humor, and emotional insight, L. M. Montgomery traces Anne’s journey from girlhood toward womanhood, capturing the quiet moments that shape a heart and define a future.

This beloved third novel in the Anne Shirley series continues one of literature’s most enduring coming-of-age stories.
