Stephen Elder

Stephen Elder was born in Niles, Michigan. He majored in German and minored in Russian at Kalamazoo College, and received a Ph.D. in German from the Ohio State University in 1969. He taught at Ohio State, Ohio Dominican College, and the University of Maryland before leaving to start a construction company in 1975. He worked as a framing and finish carpenter, millwork installer, and cabinetmaker before becoming a home inspector in 1984. He has published several articles in professional journals, and several poems in anthologies. His first novel Frank, a story about St. Francis in the modern world, was published in 2007 (see www.stephenelderauthor.com). He lives with his wife and many deer in the woods of Chatham County, North Carolina. Elder’s blog can be found at www.stephenelder.com. The blogs are short pieces of fiction, commentary, and the occasional rant.
