4/5 stars. This is a very nice book that is focused on beautiful descriptions and flowery language that I quite enjoy. The chapters in this book serve as vignettes, and each of them ties back to that one bridge over the river Drina. A bridge that stood proud, unaffected and unmovable for centuries, existing regardless of people around it, before it was finally destroyed. This book truly deserves to be considered one of the classics, and it will stand the test of time due to its beautiful story telling, as well as modern writing style.
For any readers that want to know what happens to the bridge after 1914, it was rebuilt. Later on, in 1940, the bridge got destroyed once again and then it was rebuilt for the final time- and it's still in one piece to this day. That's as of 2025.
