Battle Of Bannockburn, June 24, 1314

Bannockburn, on June 24, 1314, was a significant Scottish victory in Scotland s First War of Independence, and a milestone in its history. It took place in an area near Stirling Castle, occupied by the English, and surrounded by an 8,500 men Scottish army led by King Robert Bruce I. Edward II does not seem to have learned or forgotten the teachings his father may have given him about his victory in Falkirk. If there was no previous battle plan, at least after the first day fiasco — or, at best, the results of that forceful reconnaissance — the English commanders could have rethought effective cavalry-infantry coordination.
