“Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas” by Hunter S. Thompson was first published as a book in the year 1972. The subtitle of the novel is “A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream.”

The novel is based on autobiographical incidents. It is a roman a clef. Raoul Duke is the protagonist of the novel. Dr. Gonzo is Duke’s attorney. Both of them reach Las Vegas to follow the American Dream through a drug-induced haze.

“Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas” is said to be Thompson’s most famous work. The descriptions are quite lurid and enchanting. The author describes drug use to great lengths.

The story was first published in two parts in Rolling Stone Magazine in the year 1971. After one year, it was published as a novel.
