What if you could turn on the computer and find yourself in a world where you are a member of the United States Congress and could help run the country? For one player, that was too tempting a premise. And from August 2004 to January 2008, the author participated in the role-playing game called the “American Government Simulation.” The author's avatar continued its existence for three and a half years, making it the longest-running character in the game. This character went from Congressman to President to Senator from Florida, winning most elections in landslides. His major writings, from booklets to speeches to campaign platforms, appear here in print for posterity.
