Based loosely on Plato's The Last Days of Socrates, Dunbar uses Meno's questioning of Socrates as his own backdrop for the story of Socrates' arrest and questioning of Mediocrites over the issue of faith.
On the first day of questioning Mediocrites defines the term faith both as a process of thought and also a belief in the words of Yahweh Elohim, the God of Abraham.
The second day of questioning concludes with Socrates' acknowledgement that Mediocrites has made a case for faith, but must be punished anyway because of Egotistical Law and cites the Envy Statute which was applied in the crucifixion of Christ.
On the pretext of consideration of sentence, Mediocrites is invited to a feast, but it is already decided by Socrates that he will be forced to drink a chalice of laxative and muscle relaxant and be confined to the agora at Athens for 3 days without bathroom privileges, naked except for a white sheet.
