As a trainer I’m like that, too. If one of our strikers misses a chance, I start thinking about it. What can I do to make sure he scores next time? I want to be such a good trainer that I can teach a striker to avoid missing any chances. I want to be good at what I do, and I want to be important, but I’m not after fame. That’s why I have no ambition to be a manager.’

Thierry said he loves to give an assist when he knows he could score himself – and, when his team-mate scores, he sees the joy in his face and knows he made someone happy.
