Agronomy encompasses work in the areas of plant genetics, plant physiology, meteorology, and soil science. Agronomy is the application of a combination of sciences like biology, chemistry, economics, ecology, earth science, and genetics. Agronomists today are involved with many issues including producing food, creating healthier food, managing environmental impact of agriculture, and creating energy from plants. The evolution and ongoing development of agriculture, enabled by science, is the focus of agronomy and agronomists. The language of the book is easy to understand and provide quick reference to the terms typical in agronomy. The dictionary has been designed to achieve the purpose of providing an authoritative source to which one can turn to with confidence for the meanings of the common as well as special terms used in modern agronomy.
