wildest place to visit from Marrakech is undoubtedly the Toubkal National Park in the High Atlas. The road up to Asni is at first uneventful but soon becomes dramatic, with superb views of the fertile river valley and mud-brick villages clinging to the hillside. Asni ¡ [map] is the first main village along the road, 47km (29 miles) south of Marrakech. It is a Berber village, famous for its large Saturday souk, which attracts tour groups from Marrakech.

best reds are Volubilia, Médaillon, Domaine de Sahari, Guerrouane and Siroua. Good whites are Val d’Argan, Valpierre and Cuvée Président, while among the rosés the Sahari and Guerrouane are most recommended.
