Uranus is the planet of change, rebellion and unexpected consequences.

Each planet affects a different part of your personality depending on the sign of the zodiac it was in, whether it was retrograde (appeared to be going backwards through the sky when you were born) and what angles it made to the other planets in your birth chart. These relationships are known as ‘aspects’.

Learning to enjoy their own company and their independence is Libra’s greatest lesson.

If your Sun sign is your core personality, your Rising sign is your own self-image, or the personality you choose to present to the world.

Earth makes one revolution of the Sun each year, and by doing so, the Sun spends approximately one month in each of the 12 zodiac signs. The sign that the sun was transiting at the time of your birth is known as your Sun sign.

The word ‘zodiac’ comes from ancient Greek and means ‘circle of animals’ and most of the constellations of the zodiac are named after animals: The Ram, The Bull, The Crab, and so on.

The 12 constellations that these bodies pass through are known as signs of the zodiac.

RELATIONSHIP

Relationship astrology is where two or more birth charts are compared to see how people get along. There are two popular methods – synastry, where the two separate birth charts are compared to each other, and composite, which calculates the midpoints of each person’s planets to form one chart. Midpoints are the halfway points in the 12 signs of the zodiac between your planets and your partner’s. For example, if your Sun is in Taurus and your partner’s Sun is in Cancer the midpoint would be taken as Gemini. Or if your Moon was in Leo and your partner’s was in Sagittarius your midpoint would be somewhere in Libra. The chart takes each planet’s midpoint to create one separate chart to be interpreted.

Much of the astrological system we use today, including the signs of the zodiac, has Babylonian origins.
