Sparks fly between jaded film TA, Shane, and tough-acting freshman, Angel. Shane gives Angel the sex he craves, but struggles to be the man he needs.

Shane's too old for Angel. Even if Angel weren't a freshman in Shane's Intro to Film class, the kid would be too closeted, too confused, too darn changeable and needy. Pacific Rim University may as well be another planet from the Oakland neighbourhood where Angel grew up. Angel's fought all his life to get respect, and to stay hard in the eyes of his friends back home. Always the weird kid, Angel was the guy who never hooked up with girls. Meeting his very sexy, very male Film TA, Angel starts to understand why. He refuses to admit he's gay, but he lives for every one of Shane's smiles.

When Shane takes Angel to task for his insolent attitude, Angel can't resist pushing his TA further. He wants Shane to show him, force him, make him accept all the feelings battling around in his mind and his body. But Angel doesn't just need sex. He needs a man who can help him navigate the new and very raw landscape of his feelings.

Two months filming his first movie away from school have left Shane Roberts a changed man—humbled, conflicted, and more than anything scared that his boyfriend Angel won't love him anymore once he finds out Shane's weaknesses.

Excited as Angel is to have Shane home, Angel wonders why Shane feels like a stranger. He knows Shane has a wall up, but has no idea how to rip it down. When the opportunity arises to explore a ménage with an old friend of Shane's, Angel is initially wary, but hopes that the experience will help jar him and Shane out of their funk.

If there's one thing Shane is still confident about, it's his abilities in the bedroom. So despite their high blood alcohol level and his niggling worry that sharing Angel with another man will ruin their relationship, Shane tries to give Angel the sexual experience of a lifetime.

But real world failures are tougher to handle than the silly hijinks Shane got up to in college. This time, the very thing Shane's always relied on to hold Angel and Shane together backfires spectacularly. Shane fears he's pushed Angel away right when he needs Angel the most.

Moving towards graduation, Angel struggles with leaving behind aspects of his past. But will Shane convince him that together they can build a future?

It's Angel's senior year and time for some tough decisions. Coming out to his grandmother…meeting Shane's family…Every step Angel takes forward feels like two steps back until he wonders how he's turned into a guy totally different from who he was when he started school.

Shane feels Angel slipping away but can't figure out how to drag him back. Things are finally shaping up for Shane—with a new job in the works and a second movie optioned—but he wonders why Angel isn't ready to move on to a more grown up life.

When a friend from Angel's past arrives at Pacific Rim University, Angel slips into doubt and confusion over his life and starts to take dangerous risks. When Shane steps in to make things right, he ends up pushing his lover even farther away.

If Shane's going to keep Angel by his side, it'll take more than sweet words and great sex. Shane will have to be the family Angel's lost and replace the life Angel's leaving behind. And he'll need to convince Angel to accept all the love and commitment Shane has to offer.
