    Keeping good company

Don’t get tired of reading about this because there are such things as motivation by groups and motivation within groups. Motivation by groups involves hanging around people who encourage us to pursue our goals.

    Make mistakes

The concept of motivation also works in learning from our mistakes. For example, if we discover that one distraction of our ability to pursue our goal in improving our study habits is our tendency to spend more time in social procrastination networks, then we’ll learn from that experience and will become more motivated by cutting down time on social media.

    Eat right

Healthy foods help us condition the mind and prep the body for optimum performance.

    Integrate external rewards

Pursuing your goal is in a sense, fired by internal motivation. Hence, you need a source of external motivation to keep things in balance. Enter the concept of rewards. When you integrate rewards into your goals, make sure that it’s not something detrimental to you. For example, if you wish to improve your study habits, then your external reward shouldn’t be something like partying with friends for three days. Seek external rewards that are healthy.

    Track your progress

When you track your progress, you’ll have every reason to continue pursuing your goal. That means that you’ll have enough reason to stay motivated.

Why is a break even necessary? It’s because it offers you a chance to re-energize and to approach your goal by experiencing a comparative level of indulging and committing to your actual goals. Just like your routine, the pursuit of your goals can become boring so you need a time to stop and to resume.

Building on your motivation is enough to get you started. But in a world haunted by innumerable distractions, it’s easy to lose focus and get de-motivated. Here are some steps for you to stay motivated not only now, but for life.

    Take breaks

There’s such a thing as a free period, a grace period, and a purge period. Your free period marks the time when you’re free to indulge yourself.

    Never compare others to yourself

If you want to build on your motivation at the onset of your goal, then never shift your eyes to others. It hurts if you do that. You will never be as perfect as others seem to be, but you can be perfect as yourself. So avoid comparisons at all costs.

    Start small

It’s overwhelming to think that you intend “to pay $50,000 worth of debt by yearend.” You won’t be as motivated because of the figures right before you. Instead, make your goal more encouraging by starting small. Say something like “save $2,000 per month.”
