This is a supernatural time-slip novel which links two people from the same family but living centuries apart. Florence Pilkington-Smythe is an inmate in eighteenth century Bedlam and Stacy Smith, an author of chick-lit fiction, her modern day descendant.
These two women are mysteriously linked and experience each other’s lives, even though they live two centuries apart. This is a book about madness and confusion told through the eyes of two very different women, recording both their descents into madness and how they emerge out of the other side.
