As a teenager, Gavin Rooney was never one for writing letters or sending cards to friends and relatives. In a period of 48 hours, however, the enclosed “reflections” came to him, when he was sixteen, and he typed them into his phone. For Gavin’s 21st birthday these were published in a hard-back book as a birthday present, not for general release.

Before his death, 11 years later in April 2015, he wrote further “reflections”, now published as “Further Reflections”. The interest shown in this book has prompted an interest in how Gavin viewed Life as a 16-year-old student at St. Mary’s College, Rathmines, Dublin.

As a result, Gavin’s “Reflections at 16” has be “resurrected” and re-published here.

The world would be a more beautiful place to live in if we could learn
to view Life in a similar way to Gavin’s “reflections”…
