Paul Manafort was a part of Donald Trump’s political campaign team in March 2016. He is a lawyer, lobbyist and political consultant and served as the campaign chairman from June to August 2016. He also served as an advisor in previous administrations such as Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, Bob Dole and George H.W. Bush.
He often found himself lobbying the United States for foreign leaders. This role would require registration with the Justice Department under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). However, as at June 2017, Manafort has not registered but then he retroactively registered as a foreign agent.
