Astrology and Astronomy have been closely related ever since ancient times. Studying the stars and deciphering their language held a great importance for many ancient civilizations, as early as in Ancient Greek times. And as the famous late astrologer Dane Rudhyar once put it “astrology is a language. If you understand this language, the sky speaks to you.” The purpose of this book is twofold: first, it seeks to bring about a correlation of information about astrology and astronomy. The two disciplines carry numerous similarities and, quite interestingly, used to be considered as one a long time ago. The book explores the similarities and differences between the approaches of astrology and astronomy on studying the sky and the stars, offering a better understanding and greater clarity to star enthusiasts. Second, it goes into different methods of astrology used today – the Western, Chinese and Indian-Vedic methods – as well as that used by Native Americans, offering the reader the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the similarities and differences among each of those methods. An added bonus, there's a chapter devoted to tips and advice on how best to use the book and how to choose which zodiac chart to use based on the reader's interests and goals. For some fun, there's also a chapter on the U.S. presidents and their personality characteristics that, with amazing accuracy, match their astrological charts. John Philip Hunter's Astrology and Astronomy: Cosmic Cousins is a pleasant mixture of fun, scientific facts and useful methods for a better understanding of one's self and place in the cosmos.
