The best time to cry is at night, when the lights are out and someone is being beaten up and screaming for help.

Is there ever a best time to cry?

Sometimes I feel like I have walked into the middle of a movie. It is a strange movie with no plot and no beginning.

This quote shows that his being in jail has made him feel as though he has just walked into a movie. So this idea that he is kind of in a movie inspired him to start to write his own one. Not about himself but about his expiernces.

STEVE spreads his arms to hug O’BRIEN, but she stiffens and turns to pick up her papers from the table before them.
