I grew up in the suburbs with two amazing, loving, married parents. So how did I end up dropping out of college (I went back later and finished), getting pregnant at 20 (just missed being a teen mom statistic), and later marrying a divorcee who already had two children? I’m not saying that any of this is bad or can’t be mitigated, I’m saying that it wasn’t part of “the plan.” In spite of my obstacles—and there were many—and against the odds, I went on to become the founder and CEO of a successful, rapidly growing company. In this short and synthesized version of my life, I talk about some of my poor choices, the horrible things people have said (and done) to me, and how I attribute my success to my faith and relentlessness. There is power in sharing your story. When you own your story, you accept what was done to you or what you brought onto yourself, you deal with those emotions, and you make the decision to move forward. You will not stay stuck. And when you allow yourself to be vulnerable and share your truth with others, you pave the way for others to heal.
