The Adventures of Callie: Callie’s New Friends is about a rescued calico kitten who is a survivor and who uses her skills to show a single parent and her two sons the meaning of life, love, family, and friendship. As a newcomer to the family, she teaches them that every person or pet that becomes part of a family has something to contribute.
Dr. Ida Acuña-Garza has been involved in community education and outreach for over forty years. Currently and for the past ten years, her involvement in literacy education has led her to promote a love of reading among the children and their families whom she serves. These families are bilingual and speak mostly Spanish, but the children speak English. This prompted Dr. Garza to focus on writing bilingual books so that children and parents can enjoy the stories and their message.
