When a would-be attacker turns out to be more friend than foe, Mal's views of the Fae she's feared since she was a young girl begin to change.
In order to rescue Anita, Mal must force herself into a number of parts. Willing friend, drunken party-goer, broken-hearted lover — each more dangerous and riskier than the last.
But Anita spurns the help offered, and Mal realises there is more at risk than she first thought. But now it is much too late for her to back out of the bargain she made.When, out of the blue, everything she had planned for tumbles to the ground, Mal finds herself fighting for someone else entirely. And she really is the only one who can help him, this time.
Unsure of herself and what will happen in her future, Mal clings to her task like a drowning man to a lifebelt. She cannot fail, more than her life is on the line now.
