Well-known poet and University of Virginia creative writing professor Lisa Russ Spaar has here compiled the work of 50 contemporary American poets, whom she invited to visit or re-visit Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in poems written expressly for this volume. Contributors represent a broad spectrum of aesthetic, cultural, and demographic perspectives, and include both emerging and established poets.
