Who is Peter Mathias

A British economic historian, Peter Mathias served as the Chichele Professor of Economic History at the University of Oxford. He was also a former professor at the university. The history of industry, business, and technology in both Britain and Europe was the primary focus of his educational and research endeavors. The book that brought him the most fame was titled “The First Industrial Nation: an Economic History of Britain 1700–1914,” and it was published in 1969. In this book, he addressed not only the various elements that made industrialization feasible, but also how it was maintained.
