Imagine what it would be like to be abruptly removed from your family, friends and everything familiar to you. Also imagine that you didn’t know where you were going, what would happen to you and if you ever would return home.
Almost a quarter of a million American children have that experience every year. Their trauma must not be further compounded by frightening experiences or feelings that no one is really concerned about them. They need decisions and nurturing by people who are both well qualified for what they do and care deeply.
This book is an attempt to make it happen more frequently. Their entire future is at stake, and with it, to some extent, so is ours.
The author’s experience involved almost all aspects of child welfare services.
