“An Inspector Calls” by English playwright J. B. Priestley was first enacted in 1945. The play was first performed in the Soviet Union. It was performed in the United Kingdom in 1946.

It is regarded as one of the classics of the mid 20th century English theatre. The play is also considered as one of the best plays written by Priestley for the stage.
