Nothing seems to be going right for journalist Patrick Rush. Recently widowed, he's now bringing up a young son by himself. At work, he finds himself demoted to anonymous TV critic. It's time to do something.
So he joins a creative writing circle in hope of realizing a life-long dream – to write a novel of his own. But this circle is somewhat … unorthodox. The sessions are conducted in darkness, lit only by candles. Their shadowy leader has only recently come out of exile.
