Homes is a novel based on the life of Abu Bakr al Rabeeah who, along with millions of other refugees, is forced to flee the brutal civil war raging in Syria as a teenager. Like many others living though war across the world today, Abu Bakr experiences his share of horrific events, but these are not what define him or his life. When he finally finds safety and a new home in Canada, he finds a life full of possibilities, but also loneliness and difficult new challenges. This is a story of how a young boy emerged from a war-zone with his easy laugh and gentle soul intact.
A portion of the proceeds of this novel will go towards an educational endowment fund for the Al Rabeeah family, to privately sponsor Uncle Mohammad’s family to Canada, and for other Syrian Refugee charities.
